Fly to Taos

Taos is a destination that feels almost otherworldly. There’s a magic in the light here with soft, golden hues gently shifting across expansive mesas and dramatic mountain peaks. Wide-open, awe-inspiring views surround you at every turn, inviting you to slow down and take it all in. Far removed from the noise and pace of city life, Taos offers space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with nature. On most clear nights, you can look up and see the Milky Way with the naked eye. The mass of stars stretching across the sky is a reminder of just how special and unspoiled this place is.

Reaching a destination this beautiful and remote might seem like a challenge, but getting to Taos has never been easier. Thanks to public charter air service through JSX, travelers can now fly directly into Taos from Dallas or Austin, Texas, as well as from Burbank or Carlsbad, California, in just about two hours. JSX’s 30-passenger aircraft offers a refreshingly comfortable experience. There is ample legroom, free onboard WiFi, a complimentary drink, and gourmet snacks served during the flight.

A small jet takes off against a snowy mountain background, and the empty interior of a small plane.

One of the biggest perks? There’s no need to arrive hours early. Simply show up about 20 minutes before takeoff, drop your bag at the check-in desk, and you’re on your way; there are no long security lines or crowded terminals required.

Contour Airlines also offers direct flight service Denver International to Taos, with options to couple your ticket with a leg on Alaska, American or United Airlines from other destinations.

Arriving in Taos

Taos Regional Airport truly lives up to its reputation as a tiny airport. Upon landing, you’ll disembark directly onto the tarmac, and your bags will be delivered plane-side, a seamless, stress-free arrival that sets the tone for your visit.

If you’re heading straight to Taos Ski Valley, a convenient shuttle service is available from the airport. The scenic drive takes about 30 minutes, winding through mountain landscapes as you make your way to the resort area.

For travelers who prefer a bit more flexibility, car rentals are available through Go Rentals. Reservations must be made in advance, but having a vehicle allows you to explore at your own pace. From the airport, the historic Town of Taos is just a 15-minute drive, offering easy access to galleries, shops, restaurants, and cultural landmarks.

Located in the heart of the historic district, this iconic adobe property dates back to the 1800s and exudes warmth and character. Guests can enjoy Doc Martin’s, the onsite restaurant known for its regional flavors. Or spend the evening at The Adobe Bar, where nightly live music brings locals and visitors together in a lively, welcoming atmosphere. It’s often referred to as “The Living Room of Taos.”

Hotel Don Fernando de Taos

An indoor pool reflects its surroundings in the sun light and the interior of a hotel room with two King beds and a mountain view.

Part of the Hilton family, Don Fernando de Taos is set on a spacious six-acre property just south of the Taos Plaza. The hotel offers an onsite restaurant and bar serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guests will also find a generously sized indoor swimming pool and fitness center.
