The Town of Taos Events is excited to invite the community to Movies on the Green Community Day, a special featured event within the 2026 Movies on the Green Summer Series. Taking place on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Red Willow Park, this free, family-centered celebration will bring together residents and visitors for an unforgettable evening filled with entertainment, activities, community connection, and outdoor fun.

As part of the beloved Movies on the Green summer tradition, Community Day is designed to create lasting memories for children, families, and community members of all ages. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets to enjoy a safe, welcoming, and alcohol-free environment in the heart of Taos.

The celebration begins at 3:30 PM with upbeat DJ sets by New Mex Records setting the tone for an afternoon and evening packed with family fun. From 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM, guests can enjoy free attractions including the giant fun slide and Thea’s Zoo Carnival Ride.

Thea’s Zoo is a one-of-a-kind carnival ride named after the owner’s daughter and features colorful animal-themed ride cars including a dog, dragon, monkey, and penguin. The ride is recognized as the only one of its kind in the United States. Children must meet a 36-inch height requirement and must be accompanied by an adult to ride.

The giant fun slide offers classic family entertainment with exciting rolling hills from top to bottom. The slide measures approximately 110 to 120 feet long and 15 to 20 feet wide, creating a fun-filled experience for children and adults alike. Riders must remain seated while sliding. Children must be at least 32 inches tall and must be accompanied by an adult or 42 inches tall without an adult to participate.

Beginning at 5:00 PM, community booths and local food vendors will open throughout the park. Guests can enjoy food, snacks, sweet treats, and drinks available for purchase from Bites from Eden BakeryMystic DanceSweet Poppin Kettle Corn, and Taos County 4-H Council. Food vendors will remain open throughout the evening while supplies last.

From 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, community organizations from across Taos County will host booths featuring giveaways, family activities, resources, archery, games, photo opportunities, and interactive experiences for all ages. Participating organizations include American Legion Auxiliary Sisneros-Martinez Taos Unit 16, Calvary Taos, Community Against Violence, D.C Barrone Photography, Desert to Summit Church, EnSuenos Y Los Angelitos Development Center, Girl Scouts of New Mexico, It’s What I Got, MECA Therapies, Mountain Home Health Care Inc., New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, New Mexico State Police, Nonviolence Works, Inc./Taos Behavioral Health, Red Willow Hospice, Rivera Funeral Home, Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, Safe Pet Partners, Taos County Planning Department, Taos First Steps/Taos Loves Kids, Taos Mountain Casino, Taos Police Department, The Skating Club of Taos, Taos Ski Valley, The Taos News, Town of Taos Events and Community Events Volunteers, UNM-Taos, YDI Head Start, and Youth Heartline.

Live entertainment will continue from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a performance by UZ Band, known for playing a wide variety of music ranging from traditional Spanish rancheras and country western favorites to classic rock, alternative music, oldies, and more. During the evening, families will also have the opportunity to meet Beauty and the Beast during special character appearances throughout the event.

Thanks to D.C Barrone Photography, families will have the opportunity to capture special memories with professional photos during the event. Daneeca Barrone Vazquez, owner of D.C Barrone Photography, will be generously volunteering her time and talent for the community celebration.

New this year, guests can also enjoy a foam party filled with family-friendly fun and excitement. Attendees planning to participate are encouraged to bring a towel and a change of clothes.

Children are encouraged to dress as their favorite Beauty and the Beast characters. The first five children in costume will receive a special prize. In addition, the first 450 children to arrive will receive a free drawstring backpack while supplies last.

At 8:30 PM, the evening will conclude with a special outdoor screening of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (1991) projected on a large video wall under the Taos evening sky. Please note this featured movie presentation will begin at 8:30 PM, a special extended start time for Community Day.
