Creek Bed Carter Hogan

The music of Creekbed Carter Hogan (he/they) is a quiet act of defiance made at the end of your rope. It is the warm feeling of solidarity coursing through your body as you link arms with strangers. It is a hard-won laugh, brittle but brave, in the face of what hurt you the most. It is finding hope where there is none, asking questions when you’re told to stay quiet, demanding a future you believe in, and facing a world hellbent on destruction with community, enthusiasm, and joy.

Casper Allen

Hailing from the furthest reaches of Texas (every which side of the state–but mostly North & West), Casper Allen left home early in search of experience, and, years later, his search continues. Detailing his experiences in the Texas songwriting tradition of his heroes Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt, with a raw and aggressive bluesy vocal styling reminiscent of the Texas bluesmen Freddie King and Albert Collins, Allen explores themes of addiction, life on the road, and the ups and downs of a life well-traveled with a style developed busking on street corners and playing in dirty bars across the greater U.S.

Betty Benedeadly

Signed to Desert Records, Betty Benedeadly serves up twang-edelic, foot-stompin, banjitar-driven arrangements that explore spaghetti westerns, experimental folk, indie bluegrass, surf & roots rock.

Desert Prose

Formed in Taos, New Mexico, Desert Prose crafts pedal steel-drenched indie rock that drifts between desert dreamscape and cosmic country.

Thacker Mountain Radio Hour 5 – 6PM

Thacker Mountain Radio Hour is a weekly public radio show in Oxford, Mississippi that features author readings and a wide array of musical performances. They will be broadcasting live from The Mothership from 5 – 6PM, featuring the following artists and storytellers:

Musical Guest: CW Ayon

CW Ayon is from Las Cruces, New Mexico and often performs as a one-man band, playing guitar and harp and also drums with foot pedals. The result is, “Hill Country Blues, Chihuahuan Desert, hook-laden groove.” Ayon’s album, Bounce Boogie & Bump, includes the single, Chicken Wing and hit #1 on the Roots Music Report.

Musical Guest: Mariachi El Tigre from Taos High School

Since their founding at Taos High School in 1980, the Mariachi El Tigre – some two-dozen strong (100 counting middle and high school) – have built a reputation as showstoppers. While certainly a music of Mexico, mariachi also has roots in Spain, Cuba and Africa.

Literary Guest: Olivia Romo

Olivia Romo is a bilingual poet, water rights advocate, and storyteller from Taos, New Mexico. Romo’s language is immersed in the regional Manito dialect and culture of Northern New Mexico.

Literary Guest: Sierra Lindsey-Biscello

Sierra Lindsey-Biscello is a Taos native who recently submitted her first novel, Voice of the City, to publishers.
