Join Taos Mountain Outfitters and ECTA for a trail maintenance day on the Wheeler Peak Summit trail. This work day is open to the public and anyone and everyone are warmly invited to join!

When: August 12th, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Where: Meet at the parking lot with the radio tower east of the Phoenix Grill (36.576271, -105.438483)
What to Expect: A day filled with fun and trail maintenance on one of the most renowned trails in northern New Mexico. Work will consist of basic trail maintenance like improving drainage, tread, and clearing vegetation from the trail. We’ll be using tools like pick mattocks, McLeods, shovels, loppers, and hand saws.
We will be hiking 2 miles up the Williams Lake trail to access the Wheeler Peak Summit trail, expect to hike 6-7 miles roundtrip with tools. The trail is uphill, steep in sections, and has loose rock in parts. We will be working at elevations of 11,250′-12,250′, it’s highly advised to acclimate yourself before attending. *It is highly advised to acclimate yourself to the elevation before attending*
What to Bring: Please wear long pants, sturdy hiking shoes/work boots, work gloves, and eye protection (sunglasses okay). Bring a day pack with plenty of food and water, sunscreen, layers, and rain gear. *We will be on the trail all day and not returning to the cars for lunch*
