Mountains, Music and Memories!
Fine chamber music has been the focus of Taos School of Music for over 60 years. Each summer nineteen advanced, pre-professional musicians ages 18 to 29 are selected to immerse themselves in eight weeks of chamber music study under the guidance of our premiere faculty. During June, July and August the public are invited to experience chamber music performances the way it should be heard, in intimate settings.
Those who attend the Taos School of Music universally consider the experience to be the seminal experience of their career development. 1,000+ alumni, can be found in leading orchestras, chamber music ensembles, and teaching positions throughout the world.
One of the unique elements of the Taos School of Music is how closely TSoM Young Artists work with and learn from internationally-acclaimed professional quartets. The New Hungarian Quartet was the first quartet to teach at the Taos School of Music. Thereafter, the American, Chicago, Muir, Angeles, Vermeer, St. Lawrence, Miami, Takacs, and Miro worked mentored the School’s Young Artists. Currently, the Borromeo, Brentano, Jupiter, and Cooperstown Quartets spend a part of their summers teaching at the School.
“One of the most prestigious and intimate of summer music schools in the country.”
