Anglo-American singer-songwriter Sarah Gillespie is renowned for mixing elements of folk, jazz, and Americana with her signature poetic lyricism.
Born in London, UK she traveled the US by Greyhound bus aged 18 honing her craft playing on the streets. Since then she has released five critically acclaimed albums to widespread praise from the press for her poetics and unique lyrical phrasing mixed with elements of jazz, Americana and folk. She’s toured extensively across the UK, Europe, and the US, performing at leading venues and festivals including Blue Note (Milan), Ronnie Scott’s (London), CBGB’s (NYC), the Singer Songwriter Festival (Germany), and sold-out shows at London’s Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room.
Described as having a “dizzying reputation as a songwriter and live performer” and articulate commentator, Gillespie has appeared on prominent BBC show where she was invited to speak about the intersection of politics and the arts. (She holds an MA in Philosophy and Politics.) Her work has received airplay on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 2, and public radio stations across the United States. Her debut collection of poetry and lyrics was published by Oxford’s Albion Beatnik Press.
