DESCRIPTION:moe. is a one-of-a-kind band that has never been easily categorized. Its sonic adventurousness and tongue-in-cheek humor are distinctly and undeniably its own. Praised by American Songwriter for its “mind-bending musicality\,” moe. is treasured for its mesmerizing musical synergy\, unfettered showmanship\, and smart\, resonant songcraft. \nThe founders of moe. are Al Schnier (guitars\, vocals)\, Chuck Garvey (guitars\, vocals)\, and bassist-singer-songwriter Rob Derhak. The ranks are bolstered by longtime drummer Vinnie Amico\, since 1996\, and Jim Loughlin on percussion and vibes who\, apart from a four-year hiatus\, has been a part of moe. since 1992. The band recently welcomed Nate Wilson\, formerly of Percy Hill and Assembly of Dust\, as a full-time member on keyboards. Initially stepping in during guitarist Garvey’s recovery from a stroke\, Wilson has seamlessly integrated into the band’s dynamic\, now contributing to the rich tapestry of moe.’s live performances as they return to touring following Garvey’s remarkable recovery. \nThe band’s vibrant blend of inventive musicality and genre-blurring is on full display on a series of now-classic LPs. These include 1998’s Tin Cans & Car Tires; 2004’s Wormwood; 2007’s The Conch (which reached #1 on Billboard’s “Heatseekers” chart); and 2012’s critically-acclaimed What Happened To The La Las. In 2020\, the band released its 12th studio album\, This Is Not\, We Are\, and the Not Normal EP. SUMMARY:Wailing Souls
DESCRIPTION:Wailing Souls are standard bearers and among the few active surviving elder statesmen from the birth and the golden era of reggae music. With a career spanning more than five decades\, from rock steady through reggae to dancehall and beyond\, their canon is part of the soundtrack of Jamaica itself. Songs including “Fire House Rock\,” “Jah Jah Give Us Life\,” “Mr. Fire Coal Man\,” and “Shark Attack” mark creative high points in reggae history. \nWinston “Pipe” Matthews and Lloyd “Bread” McDonald’s creative history dates to Jamaica’s rock steady days in a group called The Renegades with George Haye. A number of name changes would take place into the 1970s\, while they would first use the name Wailing Souls for a track called “Gold Digger” for producer Lloyd Daley in 1970. At that time\, Pipe and Bread were joined by Norman “Fats D” Davis and Oswald “Sabu” Downer. With this lineup\, the group also made a series of key recordings for Coxson Dodd’s iconic Studio One label\, which included “Mr. Fire Coal Man\,” “Back Out\,” and “Things & Time.” These recordings either credited Wailing Souls or The Classics. \nThe group’s close association with Bob Marley & The Wailers during this era included singing harmony on Marley’s “Trench Town Rock” and seeing two tracks released on Marley’s Tuff Gong label in 1972\, as Pipe & The Pipers. \nIriebellion is a 6-piece roots reggae influenced band from Taos\, New Mexico whose original music features 3-part harmonies\, catchy hooks\, and high energy bass lines topped off with brilliant guitar solos creating a powerful foundation for gritty lyrics with super conscious hip-hop on top. Their songs bring positive messages about life\, love and community.
