Soon after their arrival\, Scott began meeting passionate mountain bikers across the 28\,000-mile expanse of the Navajo Nation who loved the bike and wanted to bring the sport to their communities. The only problem is no bike shops existed. Through a grassroots native-led effort\, this group of dedicated cyclists and their families have overcome countless odds to build a cycling culture that today has become the fastest-growing recreational sport on the Navajo Nation. \nThe Engine Inside For the past century\, our society has grappled with the unintended consequences of a car-centric culture. Follow the lives of six individuals from diverse backgrounds who have devoted themselves to a simple\, age-old machine – the bicycle. Through their struggles and challenges\, witness how bicycles have the potential to transform lives and contribute to a better world.

SUMMARY:Film Screening: Taos Poetry in Motion
DESCRIPTION:This exciting screening event will feature the premiere of a new film by 2022-2023 Taos Poet Laureate\, Joshua K. Concha. \nThis short film comprised of 14 poets reading work that acknowledge the role of Taos in the counter-culture movements of the 1960’s-70’s. Themes of unity\, peace\, love\, and community were paramount in the selection process of poems for the project. Each poem will be accompanied by a work of art from a local visual artist. The activist movements of the 1960’s and 1970’s were integral to advancing the interests of underserved communities of this nation and\, Taos\, with Taos Pueblo as its ancient cultural foundation\, was greatly impacted by the resulting Indian Civil Rights Act of 1965. The return of Blue Lake to Taos Pueblo in 1970 was indicative of the power of these movements and set a national precedent. It is vital that the spirit of these movements continues today and a poetry film project promoting these ideals will be a continuation of the blessings that the counter-culture movements inspired. While the film will be geared towards uplifting elements\, it will also include content that relates to the more challenging issues that are still relevant today in order to give a balanced perspective. \nThe film screening will be followed by a Q&A and reception.
